We were lucky enough to get some preview images of a 1984’s ongoing residency at Paris’ newest cultural center. The Manufacture 111 project space will support cross disciplinary artforms and establish a progressive space for all types of art projects. 1984 is one of Paris’ most established graffiti collectives and will inaugurate the new industrial space with a ongoing residency involving cooperative projects, installations and murals. The month long event will also have a pop up concept store for one of a kind artwork. It is great to see a space like this embrace a well respected collective of urban/graffiti artists form Paris and embrace the our unconventional artform. A space like this enhances the artists who normally work in abandoned areas for installations and murals, Manufacture 111 is the perfect place for visitors to experience the work of 1984 as close to its natural environment as you can get. Initiated by Guy Weladji, La Manufacture 111 is a multi-dimensional project which aims to present and support over sized and atypical art propositions. Before its official opening, this old indoor car park of some 1500sp. meters over three levels has invites the 1984 crew to take over its space. So, from the 30th of November, visitors will be treated to a live experience of the collective’s creativity and discover at the same, in preview, this new cultural center, located in the 20ème arrondissement of Paris.
The concept – The architecture, the raw and industrial materials as well as its location at the heart of the city, naturally predispose this space at the hub of the debate about urban cultures and its expressions. Built as a laboratory of those practices, the three floors of La Manufacture 111, will offer to the artists, the opportunity to design multifaceted artworks from floor to the ceiling. Guy Weladji wanted a space in its image where
music, dance, fashion and design will find also natural meeting place, because concerts, shows, as well as a concept store, a brunch space and some interactive installations will eventually complete the visitor’s path.
The Pre-Opening, the principle From the 30th of November to the 16th of December, La Manufacture 111 invites the1984 crew to raise its roof! Besides the performances and the artworks thought by the 1984, La Manufacture 111, will reveal, during these three week-ends, the potential of it space through various cultural activities.

Their project – In inviting us in the raw space, Guy Weladji allows us to free our imaginations; to create in the continuity of the work already done – the invasion of virgin spaces & theirs outbuildings – and to show it in a more official way to the public. Besides the paintings, installations and performances, we will put forward an interactivity with the visitor through an complet immersion in varying atmospheres.
The pre-opening, the principle Performed as an evolving experience, the 1984’s residency will show, over the week-ends, numerous artistic proposals. Every saturday, the program will be orchestrate by the crew and notably during the parties : an artistic and musical fall in their cryptic

The inherent mission of the Manufacture 111 to allow democratic access to the art practice of art, involves the opening, in a sustainable way, of a creative and participative space. It is in this context that the artist Gilbert Petit will propose in the basement of La Manufacture 111 the project Ici ça Craie.Pronouced E c sa cray. This interactive project will offer two facets of Gilbert Petit’s work : by way of fluo-pasting and chalk. Using this last medium is a way for the artist to demystify its educational image, while bringing added value to its fun dimension. The workshops that Gilbert will run with Clément Criseo and ONEWO of the 1984 crew, during their residency, will be a way for the children and theirs parents, to come into an atypical and artistic environment and also express their artistic sensibility without complex.
An ephemeral concept-store before Christmas time. Discovering a unique space, uncompromising artists and finally find the gift which will make that previous difference at the foot of the Chirstmas tree : that’s what the Manufacture 111 will propose you from the 16th until the 22th of December. In the heart of all the contemporary creations and urban practices, artworks, design objects and one-off fashion pieces will make up this exceptional concept-store.
