Russian artist Petro has outdone himself with his recent murals. This set of murals spans Moscow to Paris, all of them outdoors and one indoors as part of an installation. Petro continues to push a strong geometric aesthetic with a talent for bringing harmony with contrasting colors. Coming from Russia that has a deep history of Russian constructivism it is interesting to see contemporary artists such as Petro make their own history influenced by graffiti and geometric aesthetics. The mural installation titled “Spatiality” was painted as part of a group exhibition at the “Moskvich” Cultural Center in Moscow. Seeing the mural contrasted against soviet era design is amazing. The historical juxtaposition and changing of the guard speaks volumes in the picture. Petro is definitely leading the way for the Russian contemporary artists.
