Clemens Behr exhibited new work in Berlin last Friday March 15th at Gallery Karena Schuessler. In his first solo exhibition of the year Clemens seemed ready to make an impact with a large body of new work. These new pieces take on shapes of objects as well as creating new objects. Clemens chose to work with the different wood he used to create his palette. A subdued natural palette with an industrial feel. This use of everyday materials you might find in a hardware store mixed with some nicer wood create a nice balance. This modern look contrasted with a more DIY industrial feel enhances the already powerful sculptures. Using the material to shape form and create depth without the use of paint, Clemens Behr sculpts his objects in the same way he might compose a painting. This hybrid aesthetic mixed with functional objects of design round out an outstanding solo exhibition. If you are in Berlin make sure to make the trip to see this show.
