Here is a recent installation from French artist Gilbert 1. Gilbert 1 transforms the inside of an abandoned hospital into an in situ installation. Converting the abandoned canvas into a hidden work of art Gilbert 1 utilizes fat cap mark making to create an expressionist style. The palette colorful, yet aggressive sets the tone for Gilbert 1’s work. With a style resembling expressionist strokes, yet simultaneously creating a structure of geometric shapes. The color, and movement bring life to a sublime serene environment. Building with contrasting styles, and palettes of texture Gilbert 1 does what he does best. We love that all these abandoned building installations have been coming to light. It is great to see artists be able to paint environments with so many variables to work with. A blank canvas or wall is great, but to be able to paint on a lost and forgotten place in transition looks gratifying.
